When not held in conjunction with the Gold Cup\, the regatta is held on three days selected by the Governing Committee and the host Rear Commodore\, beginning on a Sunday. If the minimum number of races have not been completed by sunset of the third day\, racing will continue on days 4\, 5\, 6\, and 7 until the minimum number of races is completed. If the minimum number of races has not been completed by sunset Saturday\, or in view of the weather and/or ice conditions the regatta is abandoned by the Race Committee\, the regatta is cancelled. On the final day every effort should be made to sail all originally scheduled races.

There is currently NO access to the regatta plate from 3rd street in Elk Rapids OR from White Birch Lodge as of 3/1/2006.
New ice in the north part of Elk Lake only measured 2.5 inches as of 3/1/2006.

The World Championship and European Championship are scheduled to be help in Finland\, on 4-11 March\, 2006. The entry from must be mailed (or faxed) to Finland and arrive no later than 31 December\, 2005 to avoid late fees.
This is a prestigious event\, and if you haven't been to Europe for a World Championship\, I guarantee it will be a memorable trip.

Ok\, sharpen your runners and pack up your gear for the 2006 GTIYC Fun Regatta. Baring a major snow event during the next several days\, the 2006 GTIYC Fun Regatta will happen this weekend (March 18 &\; 19) on either South Lake Leelanau at the Bingham Road Launch or on Houghton Lake off the DNR launch in the SW corner of the lake.
South Lake Leelanau will be sailed tomorrow and Houghton Lake will be sailed on Thursday. The final venue call will be announced on Thursday evening by hot line\, E-mail and web sites. Launch site maps will be available at www.gtiyc.com on Thursday evening.
