The Minnesota Ice Sailing Association is pleased to announce the 2006 Western Challenge Regatta is scheduled for December 1,2 & 3, 2006 Best Ice, Western Region.

The primary site is Milepost 8, Lake Christina near Ashby, MN.

Additional information regarding this epic sailing event will be posted two weeks prior to the event.

Now in our 15th year, the Western Challenge Regatta has become The Place to begin the iceboat race season. Tune up against some of the very best sailors in the world.

In addition to a huge sheet of perfect ice, a World Class 50+ boat fleet, and more sailing than your neck can handle. We're planning on some exciting new things for '06 that will both improve your iceboating experience and elevate the game, both for individual sailors and the fleet.

Temperatures as they are around the midwest, there's the possibility the Nite Nationals will be sailed nearby this year. The scheduled dates are January 13-14. It's hoped that many of the local Nite owners who enjoy their cruising will sail. First-time racers should look at this as a easy opportunity to expand their iceboating experience.

Up to date information can be found at the class website: www.pyc.org/nitehome.htm.

Also, first-time Nite racers may find this article helpful in boat tuning and racing rules: www.pyc.org/PutYourRaceFaceOn.pdf

Wind-driven snow and cold temps made for hard/sticky snow on Geneva. This weekend's regatta has been postponed at the last minute as a result.

That's good for us. It's been re-scheduled for next weekend, February 17-18. Possible lakes are Green Lake (WI) and Geneva.
Both are super great locations.

If you've never been to a national, this is your year. There's a group from Minnetonka that goes each year, and we're hoping the guys at White Bear, Bald Eagle and LAKE RILEY! will come join the Minnesota contingent.

Follow the Nite website, www.pyc.org/nitehome for updates.
