After months of utter BS from all sides of the political spectrum, it’s time for Nite sailors to spend some political assets of their own in the inaugural Stimulus Package, a new regatta designed to:
A) Introduce (or re-ignite) cruising Nite sailors to the fun of racing, and
B) Provide some early-season racing for those waiting for their home lakes to freeze.
It’s safe to say that once a cruising Nite owner sails just a few races, they’re hooked. And suddenly that boat that gets used about one day every five years gets some real use all the time.
Dates are December 11, 12. The format is ultra casual. No fees. No trophies. Special to this event will be:
1. An on-ice tuning seminar for those who want it
2. Explanation of safety and racing rules
3. Lots of two-lap racing (shorter length, but more starts)
4. Possibly some races for first-timers only
The location is hoped to be near the Twin Cities. We’ll try to make driving as short as possible for everyone. Preliminary locations will be announced Monday, Dec. 6th on iceboat.org and iceboating.net. Final location will be announced by noon, Thursday, Dec. 9th.
The DN fleet holds their 80+ boat regatta the week prior, so be assured the Nites will not conflict with their highly-successful event. Other fleets (Optis, Renegades, etc.) are welcome to join in rotation.
