It would be fun to get a small group together and have some fun scrub racing and sailing. At 9 am it is blowing ENE at 9 mph, so it's shaping up to be a great day for sailing.
Lake Minnetonka is the place to go. For those of us who can't get monday and the rest of the week off work to sail the NA.'s.
WE can have our own party here at home. I'll bring the ice.
It should be a great weekend for sailing . We'll be out on the the main Lake around Noon. Sunday should be great sailing day as well. See you out there.
Tom and I walked out half way into Gideons Bay at 10:30 last night. Once you get away from the shore the ice gets a lot more smooth and less snowmobile ruts, which are hardly an issue if you were sailing. There were no puddles. I think the main lake will be even better. We'll be haeding out to the main lake to go sailing in the morning. Our boat's are on the ice and ready to go. Hope to see you out there.

Setup in Cottagewood for Saturday Sailing
Folks,
Not all of us can make the NA's, so we'll have a little get together on Saturday to do a little group sailing. We will be setting up in Cottagewood at the Pratt/Allen location, because it provides quick access to the main lake.

The wind forecast isn't the best, but you have to learn to sail in light wind too.
Cya'll there

Mtka ice
Main Lake sounds good on both days if any wind. Wish I could take week off for NA's. I will set up at Tonka Bay as it's closest to my house, since I can't sail under the 2 bridges, due to open water. May still need a rain jacket as the spray will no doubt be flying in the water puddles!! Keep in touch with actual plans every one.

North Americans
A continental championship in iceboating is ALWAYS 1,000 miles from home.
With a Major Regatta, again this year, within a half day's drive from the Minnesota... Anybody in Minnesota who's serious about improving their iceboating program, and either wants to get a ranking or improve an existing one, or is serious about a great party (there's usually one) should not let the opportunity to sail in the DN North Americans pass them by.
Ice is very nice

Ouch...
...it hurts!
Now that it is on Winnebago I am kicking myself... but not too hard 'cause somehow I got myself invited to a free ski-in/ski out condo in Aspen for a week! Bummer.
Good luck and maybe I'll be seeing some of you other lacksadsical, unranked, party-hating DN'ers out there this weekend.

I'm up for it...
...if the wind ever comes. Schedule-wise Saturday is the better day for me but of course the wind forecast looks pitiful. Please post a launch site when you guys get set up and maybe you'll see me on Sunday (the in-laws arrive....).
FWIW, I may give Calhoun a try as it is very close to home and the "get out of jail" card should be that much easier to get!

Adam
another urban sailor (monson) indicated he may try Calhoun as well, it looked excellent earlier in the week. He said "...It's like six blocks from my house, it looks great and I've never sailed there..."
Ice is nice
Calhoun
Calhoun is less that 1 mile from my house too. Like you guys, getting a kitchen pass is tough so Calhoun makes some sense in that way. Wind is pretty shifty though and you run out of runway pretty quick... I will probably setup in Cottagewood on Tonka. Either there or Gideon Bay with Tim.
Let's do Tonka Timmy
Wind forecast doesn't look so good. We can setup and if no wind sail Sunday.

Hey Timmy,
Did you read my ice report? I thinking sailing out of cottagewood will be the best set up area with the little wind. The main lake has the best ice.

I looked at it and it said something about surfs up.
I didn't look any further thinking it was a windsurfer-kitesailing thing. I'm a Putz.
sorry,
