Canadian Championship Regatta Report

I just got off the phone with Glenn Betzoldt in Pepin. He reports that about 30 boats stayed in Pepin for the Canadian Championship Thursday. The wind was light and flukey shifting around from the SE, S, and W at various times. He and Merili were the first to reach the race area in the morning and the ice was still hard enough to sail on. However, as time wore on and the temperature took it's toll, it got softer and stickier. By the time the time the course was set and the first race got started, the wind wasn't stong enough to keep pepole moving. In the end there were no races.

Glenn is still in Pepin. He reports that at about 10:00am today (Friday) it was sleeting. There were 12 boats still at the landing. Depending on the weather they may sail some more today, or pack up and head home.

Cheers,
