2007 Western Regional Regatta Hot Babe's in Brainerd, just waiting to show the fleet a good time!

The regatta site for the 2007 DN Western Region Regatta is Gull Lake, Minnesota. Although it is a little further drive than previous regattas in our region, the ice and facilities available will make for another wonderful event. Check out the website for more information. Gull Lake is a vacation destination and offers us an unparallel regatta venue! I truly hope you will make the drive and participate.

Ice Conditions: (as Reported 2/3/06)

Large playground with clear, hard ice,12” average thickness. No problem setting a 1 mile by 1 mile course.

Directions to the Ernie’s Bar & Restautant / launch:

From Walker/Pine River/Nisswa:
Take Highway 371 South towards Brainerd. Take a right on County Road 125 (Gull Dam Road). Go approximately 4 miles and turn right on Squaw Point Road, next to East Gull Lake City Hall. Go 1/2 mile and Ernie's is located on the right hand side of the road.

From Minneapolis/ St. Cloud/ Little Falls:
Take Highway 10 North to Highway 371, continue North on Highway 371 towards Brainerd. Go 5 miles past Highway 210 and take a left on County Road 125 (Gull Dam Road). Go approximately 4 miles and turn right on Squaw Point Road, next to East Gull Lake City Hall. Go 1/2 mile and Ernie's is located on the right hand side of the road.

Directions to Cragun’s Resort:

Directions From the North: On Hwy 371, proceed south past Nisswa approximately 10 miles to the second intersection with County Road 77, turn right, continue 6 miles to Cragun's entrance.

Directions From the Northeast: Take Hwy 210 through Brainerd to the intersection of Hwy 371 North. Turn right on to Hwy 371and proceed north 3 miles to County Road 77 (Pine Beach Road), turn left on CR 77 and continue 6 miles to Cragun's entrance.

Directions From the West: On Hwy 210, go 5 1/2 miles east of Pillager, turn left on County Road 18. Go 3 1/2 miles to County Road 77, turn left and go about a mile to Cragun's entrance.

Directions From the Metro Area and points South: Take Hwy 94 west to the Clearwater exit, then turn right (east) at exit and follow to Hwy 10. Take Hwy 10 north to Little Falls, then continue north on Hwy 371 towards Brainerd. Then take the new Hwy 371 Brainerd bypass (C. Elmer Anderson Memorial Hwy). At the junction of Hwy 371 & 210 continue north on 371 for 3 miles to County Road 77 (Pine Beach Road). Turn left on CR 77, continue 6 miles to Cragun's entrance

Gull Lake, MN is one of Minnesota's Marquee Lakes with 9,400 acre of lake area its an excellent venue for the event.

Nite Sailors? 4 Wheelers?

Rear Commodore Isabell called this morning, and asked if perhaps had access to a 4 wheeler, - mark moving, equipment transport, etc.

Any local 4 wheeler who's interested in supporting the event will be warmly welcomed. also, we could press a nite into service to schlep race committee to and from the sailing area...

please advise on availabliltiy...

Sailing Today!

it's my understanding that a number of sailors are on the road and plan to be set up and sailing today on Gull Lake.

the first order of business for today is check the ice in the Sailing Area for hazards.

as always, sailors of all abilities are welcome on sailing ice in Minnesota!

Ice Checkers 4811 and 602 after a hard day on the ice in Brainerd13 Competitors and sailors for their efforts ice checking and reporting efforts in support of the event in Minnesota, I presume an equal number in Wisconsin, with special recogninition of US 602 (flyer) and 4811 (chatterbox)for leading the effort and assuring the regatta organizers of the thing they need most, options for great ice.

It is not "a little further"

We headquartered the 2002 North American Championships in Brainerd, additionally, Lake Miltona, site of the 2000 North American Championship Regatta is about 100 miles farther into Minnesota than this wonderful location.

We also sail a little event in December that most folks sooner or later get to.

Some of us are "driving East" to get there! :)
