I have recently aquired a completely restored Mead Batwing. The best information I can get is that it came from Chicaga & was built around 1926. It is approx. 16ft long & was initially a single seater. The restoration made it into a 2 seater. A steering wheel controls via cables the bow runner. I live in Cooperstown, NY & can't wait for ice. Some experienced ice boaters in the area have kindly invited me to join them & have volunteered to hop on for some lessons. Any information on this boat would be appreciated. Does anyone have an idea of its monetary value? Thanx,

Mead skeeter
Allan,I've been working on a mid 40s mead tandon ,it also has the stering wheel and foot steering.my boat measures 22ft without the front springboard, that adds another6ft, the mast is 24.5ft.bob and jane pagel know quit a bit about these boats, jane said she started out with a mead skeeter.I'am not sure what dollar wise it would be worth, but I can,t wait to sail mine.their are 2 other mead tandoms that I know of that have been restored and sailing, these are great old boats, think Ice DN4155 Rick Lemberg
Mead Iceboat
The 4 lakes web site has a lot of info on thier history page. they have a pic of an early Mead ice boat with a sail that looks like a bat wing, perhaps its like yours. It is actually the Mead Glider Company that built them as a side line to thier wood airplanes. I believe they built iceboats into the early 50's.
