Springfield Sailing on Shelf for now.

Heavy freezing rain last night. Temps now in 20's,ice hard. Inspected area by skating this afternoon and encountered widely spaced but random areas of shell ice, some with drain holes the size of a reindeer hoof.Found a couple big enough for Santa's Boot. While the skating was pretty good, sailing would be risky. Low tonight of 12,high tomorrow low 30's,should solidify these areas, but the Santa Boot drain holes I saw may still be a threat.Plans to sail tomorrow now on shelf pending further inspection.Forecast for weekend is now high 40's fri and saturday,w/lows in 20's sat night.Sailing is suspended here until further notice.Merry and SAFE Christmas to all!
