Hi -
I've heard about ice sailing and would love to learn more. Having only sailed locally on Lake Minnetonka and out east (the Chesapeake Bay), I have to admit that the prospect of sailing on ice is a little daunting. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can learn more? Is it possible to try it somewhere?
Many thanks!
Josie

Just show up...
Rule One at the Minnesota Ice Sailing Associaiton, Just show up. FAQ's
If there's ice to be sailed on in Minnesota, odds are there will be a posting on this website. The every other day snow storms have caused some disruption in our early season.
Thursday evening postings should give you a good idea where to go on Saturday mornings...
Just show up and express some curiousity, if you're pleasant, a little boat wise, and conditions aren't too, "Yee Ha" (open in seperate window) somebody's sure to let you freeze some snot to your forehead.
As for your trepidations, they are well founded, a small subset of the people who try iceboating become addicted to it for life, there is no cure. ;)
