In order to keep on schedule to have the hull ready to sail next weekend, I needed to get two areas of fiberglass glued on today. Since they are on perpendicular surfaces (the bottom and side), I couldn't do them in one session. So on my way into work this morning I stopped by the Boatwerks and applied glass over the crack in the bottom skin right at the forward mast-step bulkhead. I wasn't 100% certain how much I wanted to add - the crack didn't look that bad - but when I painted epoxy on the bare wood, the crack jumped out as a dark line across the bottom. That made me a bit nervous, so I added a layer of the heavy unidirectional glass underneath a layer of the uni-cloth. Everything went well, and I got into work on time!
This evening I plan to put the glass on the outside of the cracked sideboard, and prep the plywood to cover the sideboard top and grab-rail for gluing tomorrow.
One more hour. Total = 23...
