Heading over now,

Hutt and I walked out, it's slippery, in close where there was a lot of snow yesterday we found a couple 4" drain holes...

Meeting some other folks, to:

hang out,
maybe grille,
set up the boats for tomorrow,
and if the forecast wind shows up this afternoon, take a light air rip to go looking for drain holes.

Newcomb says She's already played in Pepin, it's usually a one week walk for her to get here. This weekend is the last one in the metro area.

Carpe DN!

Let's try Sunday!

Saturday's wind does not appear to be getting above 5 MPH. Sunday's forecast looks like 15-20 MPH out of the south. Tonka will soften up a bit from the rummbling pitted stuff on Friday. The rain last eve appears to have smoothed it out some based on a short walk on the ice. Many boats are set up at Cottagewood, Park Ave fire lane. The Shorewood Yacht Club has room off their docks for many more. The main lower lake should be the place on Sunday morning. Other than a few 1" cracks, no heaves, obstacles or open spots noted. A car was driving on the ice on Tuesday!
Based on next weeks forecast, the fat lady may start warming up in metro.
Mike

looks like at least a dozen boats in Cottagewood

Based on the forecast we better think about bringing something to share, and something to like grille...

we may be standing around til the wind comes up, and it will!

today's sailing on Mtka

602 reports 5 iceboats, mostly dn's were rippin all day until the rain at about 3:30... all boats remain on the lake in anticipation of this weekend's sailing.

he says it's a little rumbly, but great...

Wind forecast varies by liar. choose your poison for tomorrow... the WIRC is running a 25 lap short course (longer than you imagine) in the breeze on Sunday, practice laps tomorrow... and rippin... the way I read the forecast.

Ice Report White Bear Lake

Jason Brown from White Bear Boat Works said 5 minutes ago that "White Bear Lake is in Primo Spring Sailing Conditions, seriously near perfect, with the weather forecast (wind) people will be playing hookey and sailing White Bear Lake".

Most every lake in the Metro Area and North should now be in excellent spring sailing condition.
