The battens in for example a DN sail, are tapered to give the sail more draft forward. Untapered battens won't do this. If you are good with a surface planer or hand plane, you can taper wooden battens. If you do this I would suggest you borrow a set of battens and try to duplicate the bend.

Thanks. I am good with a planer, I just wasn't sure if energy forward was a good thing on a DN.
