Johnson Cup - Cancelled!

18 Mar 2011 3:58 pm

It is with great regret we must cancel the running of the 2011 Johnson Cup. Mark "The IceMaker" Kiefer said, "Oh Snap, IceBoating's an Outdoor Sport, even with a much more robust set of options that short track racing allows, some-day's it just isn't to be, it took 46 years to pull off the first one, we've been lucky so far."

Look for the 2011-2012 WIRC Calendar of events in coming weeks...

When you post an event on

When you post an event on late Thurs. night with ice conditions that have obviously not been even walked on (took myself to report it unsailable) and you get someone like myself to drive 8 hrs to get here and you have great ice reported 90 miles away and then you cancel,to say I am disappointed would be an understatement.Maybe it is getting clear to see why most sailors do not take this event seriously.I will not be fooled again.
Not to mention that the organiser of the event could not even drive up to make an apperance and say hello shows a lack of class.

Sturgeon Lake

Madge is planning on setting up and sailing there tomorrow, the site of the 2010 Great Western Challenge, reported to be drive on ice, in fantastic shape by the sailor going there tomorrow.

Sail Safe!
