Congratulations and Thank You!
Congratulations to The Doctor (US 4824). He was faster then everybody on Saturday, and was in it to win it on Sunday! His work shop is dedicated to iceboating, and his hard work off the ice payed off on the ice.
Bonus: All you ranked sailors, just got beat by an un-ranked sailor.
Congratulations are also in order for Peter Orlebeke (US 5501) for besting a fifty-one! (are you kidding me) boats in the silver fleet to take the win! We had the biggest silver fleet ever! Peter put on a good show, pushing his boat hard at times..
I know the whole fleet would like to thank Loretta and Deb for doing the registration and the scoring. It went way smoother then having me do it.
Thanks to Mike Bloom, who couldn't sail do to an injury, came out and did a great job running the races. Saturday was hard. The wind would not stay put!
Thanks to everybody that helped out and a special thanks to all the participants for making it so much fun.
sincerly,

Probably some of the best ice
Probably some of the best ice and conditions I have experienced in my very short iceboating career, thanks to all that made it happen.
Regatta complete
Many scrub races on Fri with outstanding ice and 10-13 MPH. Saturday sunny warm with 4 races all fleets in 7-12 clocking right wind. Pelican Lake looked like a mirror. Dr posted 3 firsts and a 2nd in gold. Sunday started foggy but lifted as we set up. The lake re froze overnight so again fast conditions in 10-15 Speeds up to 50+ on the GPS. JD wins two races and Ron the 3rd and final race to complete an awesome regatta.
Final results in gold(unofficial). Dr -1st, JD-2nd
In silver Peter Orlebeke 1st, Griffin Sherry -2nd and Miller 3rd.
Official results from Loretta soon.
Thanks to MN iceboat assoc for the great regatta and sheet of ice.

As Audrey and I sit at McD's an hour from home we want to say thanks to all those who put this event on and those who made the trip. We had a blast. Audrey would also like to point out one little error in the scoring.... she should have had all DNSs and Martha Dawson should be the winner of the Jane Pagel award! Go Martha!!!
Skippers Meeting
Great day of racing on Friday.
Skippers meeting at the launch site 10:00am Saturday Morning
We had 65 boats on the ice including what seemed like a dozen ice optis ripping all over 4" of black ice.
Wind freshened as the day went on. A rotating fleet of scrub races through out the day kept smiles on everybody's face. A very nice first day of the season.
Lake christina
If it is " mile marker 8" what road / hiway is THAT on...??? thanks, 5445

Pelican Lake is the Primary Site
We are going to make Pelican Lake the primary site. If that doesn't work, we can go back to Lake Christina.
Friday meet at Pelican Lake!

Pelican Lake..
Pelican Lake is connected to Lake Christina. We are still going to be sailing out of the town of Ashby, MN. Pelican is a bit smaller then Christina, but it froze later and has better ice. JD & the Doctor looked it over, but they sailed Christina, not Pelican, so it will need to be thoroughly checked out on Friday, first thing.
Where is the landing?

There is also the Mom & Pop in Ashby, MN. I called them and they are open. You'd be close to the ice, but a long way to the new social events in Alexandria.
