2004 North American Championship

There are two sites under consideration for the North American Championships:
Lake St. Clair in Detroit, MI, and
Sandusky Bay on Lake Erie in Ohio.

The ice on Lake St Clair is 2 inches of snow ice on top of 10 inches of clear ice. Both locations have ice with a rough washboard texture on the surface.

Weather forecast for this week is favorable, and conditions should improve over the next few days, and local sailors will be sailing and checking ice.

The next conference call will take place on Wednesday Feb 18th. This hotline will be updated at the conclusioon of the conference call, at approximately 9pm EST.

    Launching at Dempsey Fishing Access, Bayshore Rd. ½ mile east of Regatta HQ and at Hotel HQ off the beach for those staying at Hotel. Easier access probably at Dempsey.

    Directions: From Michigan and points West, take I-75 to Ohio Turnpike (I-80/90), east to Exit 91 (Ohio Rte. 53). Take 53 to Ohio Rt. 2, east on Rt. 2 to Ohio 269 (Marblehead). At Exit follow Signs to Bayshore Rd., Dempsey Fishing Access.

    From the Northeast on I-90 go to Ohio Rt. 2, stay on Rt. 2 over the Sandusky Bay (Edison Bridge, then take first exit west of bridge (Ohio Rt. 269). At Exit follow Signs to Bayshore Rd., Dempsey Fishing Access.

    From the East on I-80 (Ohio Turnpike) Exit Ohio Turnpike at Exit 118 (U.S. 250). Take U.S. 250 North to Ohio Rt. 2. Go west on Rt. 2 Rt. 2 over the Sandusky Bay (Edison Bridge, then take first exit west of bridge (Ohio Rt. 269). At Exit follow Signs to Bayshore Rd., Dempsey Fishing Access.
