After a great day of kite skiing on Minnetonka yesterday in the warm weather the snow has been replaced with water. The drive off the lake yesterday in 3-4 inches of standing water was a little eerie but I knew a little cold weather would change all of that.
This morning when I drove through grays bay on hwy 101 the ice looked perfect for our other winter sport "Ice Boating". The ice was white in color and was smooth as far as the eye could see. Hopefully it was cold enough last night to freeze the standing water all the way through.
Surf is up on Lake Minnetonka!!!!!!
PS The ice is still 18-24 inches thick.
ice cond.
I've driven to Millbankk SD. and back today straight west of Mpls. and the ice looks about the same as it does on Minnetonka. Will be going to Marshall area later this week, I'll let you know if I see a great sheet of ice.
Has anyone been down Spirit Lake-Okoboji area. The last time we had a thaw it looked really good down there.

Addendum to Minnetonka Ice Report
Cornboy was just out trying to ice surf and said the lake was to rough to ice surf or ice boat even driving across the lake it was rough.
Don K did you going sailing today?
Tonka ice report
I have not been out on Tonka this week. I did go to White Bear Lake last Saturday to visit a friend and see his 100 year old stern-steering boat the "Wrigley" that was purchased from the chewing gum family this past year. As we stood on his dock a large old "A" boat came crusing along going over the frozen snowmobile tracks with ease. Of course the runners are about a city block long and track very well.
If we do not get a large dump of snow I will go this weekend. If anybody has tried the lake please let us know of the contitions.
