MAST RAKE

I am new to iceboating and I would like some info pertaining to adjusting the mast rake according to different wind conditions. I have an older wood mast and I would also like to know if this mast should be more virtical then a whip or more set back.

Here's a rough idea. Put the sail up, and set the mast so the boom is parallel with the ground with you out of the boat. If you're just cruising, this will probably work. Tighten the sidestays in light air, and ease the side stays as the wind builds.

Hopefully, someone who really understands this will give you better information.
