Week 10 Minnesota > outlook > sailing

Great Ice remains for Week 10 We've seen little snow in Central Minnesota... Lakes immediately around Alexandria are believed to be in "pretty darn good" condition. eg. Miltona... it however has not been checked by an ice sailor... yet.

Alex Forecast:
Saturday: A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 11. Wind chill values between -4 and -9. Blustery, with a north northwest wind between 17 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.... (forecast 36 mph gusts in Fergus).

Sunday: Partly cloudy, with a high near 8. Northwest wind between 6 and 13 mph. Brrrrr

KA 1 reports the fresh frozen stuff on Lower Minnetonka, main sailing area, has about an inch of snow cover, and is probably "fine", checked on a snowmobile however. SECOND INSPECTION: NOT... THIS IS NOT AN OPTION

Minnneapols forecast for Saturday is pretty good...
SaturdayMostly cloudy, with a high near 17. Wind chill values between -1 and 4. Northwest wind between 15 and 17 mph.

Which works for some of us... NO LONGER...

NO attempt to sail Lower Minnetonka will be made Saturday.

Launch Site: NONE
Start Time:

updates to follow...

other sailors are encouraged to check in with suitable ice...

ten weeks!... hehehehehehehe

It's also my understanding that some of our DN'ers acting in solidarity with our iceboating "cousins" East of us, who have no ice, will be staying home and working on their stuff this weekend. :)
