ice report, spring park bay, lake minnnetonka, minnesota

1. walked on spring park bay this afternoon, conditions, about 1" of corn snow/slush on top of hard snow ice... the sun has yet to hit the ice on the open sites. The ice is hard to shore.

Conclusion, if there's breeze we''ll probably be able to sail. Several DN's indicate they plan to set up ast spring park bay and sail tomorrow. Setting up ~10:00

2: I see the ice cops are looking for an iceboater. Check the blogs if your boat is "set up" today, somebody's looking for you. Jeez, the power of the internet! Tip of the helmet to Deputy Piper!

Spring time in Minnesota, tee shirt ice sailing!

it's gonna be great

Funday, 3/18

6 DN's went out Sunday afternoon for some nice ripping about at Spring Park Bay. One plank broke on a small ridge. We sailed the bay and the outer part of the lake. Outside is better as there are no vehicle tracks. The ice was a bit sticky but there was plenty of wind to scare yourself silly.

5 boats will be sailing most days after work this week so come on out!

crack attack

There is a crack, about 3" wide by 10" deep running from the Upper Minnetonka Yacht Club Enchanted Island property heading out towards the Howard's Point Marina for about 200 yards. It's as ugly as some of the boat eaters found at the Worlds. Be careful.
