Corey Hughes, Nite 341

I am currently building a new three piece plank for my Nite and would welcome expierenced comments on what initial crowns have been used when gluing up. We have prepared stripped Ash skins over a tapered poplar core.

Also, will be building a new mast over the next few months and I am looking for ideas on: (1)racing spec class mast, and (2)a 20 foot, out of class mast for open class compitetion.

Nite 341

How can I get a hold of you. I can give you a few thoughts on building parts and class legal specs for a mast

plank

Mike;

The plank came out very nice (see photo gallery). It is lighter than the original (and not twisted) and sails much nicer than the yellow pine one. It is still a little stiff for solo, so I would like to leave it as is for heavy stuff and build another one for performance and a 200lb skipper.

We made the current one with 7/16" strip skins over a tapered 2 1/8"-1 7/8" poplar core.

I would appreciate any ideas that you would have for making the lighter plank. We hope to be in the Madison area over this upcoming weeknd and am thinking of stoping at McCormick Lumber for some Sitka supplies.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

construction

Mike, thanks for reply. I would welcome any help that you can offer. I know John Ritter fairly well, but he pretty much focuses on traditional construction. The local builders working with me are all DN guys and not certain how their methods will work on Nite dimensions. I can be reached at:

Building Parts

You can call John Ritter, the class builder, at 262-691-2230. He should be able to help out with your questions and make sure you stay within the rules at the same time. Good Luck.
