Dead Lake || Nov 26 2006Three DN's are out on a course sailing their 6th race... on the West Arm of Dead Lake near Fergus Falls... winds are North at 10-15 mph...

Marks are set about a mile apart, the ice is thin but judged today to be suitable ("it's fine") by 4691, 4824 and National Secretary 5214.

We have SUITABLE ICE which has been sailed by ranked sailors!

Additionlly a back up location with possible sail in sail out accomodations is being checked in the morning.

The a final location decision shall be made no later than Wednesday Noon... in order to assess the impact of the weather system which may be an influence.

It was sweet..

We had a great day at Dead Lake. We setup a short course and did 10/3 lap races or so. Of course JD and the Doctor where up to speed imediately.. so I was chasing them around the course.

The lake is pretty big with a fresh sheet of hard ice. There was one small open spot out in the lake off to the left of the launch site. It's dirty ice with the cattails and farm dirt..

The sheet was at the minimum strength/thickness for sailing but was very consistent over our racing area. At one point we moved the course after the sheet cracked and you could see the cracks working as when all three us were together after the start.
