Drifter is finally back together and ready for ice. Brand new 12" wide foam/carbon mast, larger halyards on both masts, new flatter Henry Bossett sail (wife says it looks like a tarp), two sets of basswood/carbon battens, springboard stretched 1 foot longer, larger forestay, new billet aluminum chocks, revised boom. Faster or slower yet? Only time will tell. Last year it was just a boat, now it's a "program"?? Looking forward to a great El Nino year!

Primary site of the western challenge is lake Christina in ashby,mn. Lodging in Alexandria, mn. Details to follow.

I have two rocket masts.

$1100/ea.

I looking to sell both of mine to finance a new mast from Ronny.

One has never been used. Although it needs the hound glued in it. I always raced with the other one.

One has been cut down and is about 4 or 5 inches shorter than the regular rocket. Makes it fits inside an E350 with a little room to spare. It's also had a little fairing and paint.

The western challenge is 13 days away. Lake Christina is now ice. We plan to sail Thanksgiving weekend and will post a report after the weekend.

According to the Finnish Facebook page they have ice!
"Cara Vlada and Johnny just came back from the ice. Currently we have 11-12 cm hard ice."
They plan to sail in Säräisniemi, Vaala, Lake Oulunjärvi next weekend.

It is hard to believe but last year we too sailed the weekend of Nov 15, on Christina.
