Keep checking the 4LIYC website @ http://www.iceboat.org for updates about the Northwest Ice Yacht Association Annual Regatta. At present, there is no sailable ice but, because it is so late in the season, the regatta will be called on every week with the hope of ice conditions improving enough to hold the regatta.

White fronted geese have entered SE Iowa, which has been a harbinger of the death of the ice season in these parts. Nice while it lasted. The snow maps show NW Iowa as clear and the ice fishing shanties are still up. Clear Lake, Ia. is still sucking up vehicles.
I didn't do so well. I was cold and wet!
But my cool Drift HD Ghost performed great all week. Peter Crawford of Penalty Box Productions told me it was the bomb. It was freezing cold with ice pellets, rain, slush, and mounted on the runner blank and didn't miss a beat. The battery lasted all day, even when it was 4 degrees F. amazing! I used the wrist remote control and with the colored LCD it worked really good. I recommend the Drift HD Ghost. It worked good in extreme winter conditions.

Hi folks,
I'm hoping to stir up some interest for anyone who has a boat they can put on a trailer... And wants to come sailing on Lake of the Woods, 2hrs north of the boarder. We have a long standing regatta that traditionally has had 40 plus Minnesotan boats participating, but lately those numbers have dwindled down to less than 10. Here's a bit of info about the regatta, which has both highly competitive racing divisions, and an open cruising division for those wanting to take it a bit easy... My first regatta I was only 4 months old!
For sale: Henderson Speed Suit available at NA's.
SOLD!

This is the first time in its 40 years that the DN Iceboating World Championship has ever come to Minnesota. At this championship people will race for the Gold Cup and then for the North American Championship.
“We have over 100 competitors from 9 countries,” the DN Class Secretary, Jim McDonagh, said. “We’ll be racing till we get 7 races in, in each fleet.”
Regatta complete. Polish sailors take first and second. J.D is third. Ron Sherry fourth. The Doctor is 10th.
