What's your name, and where are you from?
We are looking for local RC help.
Early Sunday Morning-- through-- Tuesday.
Ideally someone who is familiar with ICE.
Local so the class don't need to pay for gas.
The class can pick up the hotel expenses, but Ideally someone local again would be great.
It would be nice if they are familiar with driving a 4-wheeler.
Duties might include moving marks, moving starting lines, assisting the scorers and RC, herding cats..
The organization has four 4-wheelers coming so we could use a lot of RC help to keep things moving.
DN GOLD CUP Called "ON!" for Lake Pepin at Lake City, MN.
See the DN website at: https://ice.idniyra.org/ for more info.
Be sure to thank the Doctor, Mike Miller and Tom V. for scouting the ice. Without their efforts, there is no way the regatta chair would bring this event to Minnesota. Also, thank Jim McDonagh for all his behind the scene efforts. He works tirelessly on our behalf.
If you ever thought about attending a big time sailing event this would be it. Over a hundred boats from 8 different countries have already registered. Sailors are assigned to one of three fleets depending on your ranking: Gold, Silver and Bronze. If you do not have a ranking you are assigned to the bronze fleet with an opportunity to move up into the silver fleet if you sail well. There will be be sailors of all abilities so you need not be intimidated by the top ranked sailors.
Attending a World Championship is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Please join us.
See you on the ice!
Just posted on DN website.
The World is coming to Minnesota just 1.5 hours away
I big thanks to Mke and Tom for braving the sub-zero tempertures for going on a Lake Pepin Adventure. Sort of a frozen huck-fin story. Sunny and very cold, with little wind, they went out to the middle of the lake to get a tan, and then the wind kicked up. A little rumbly and about 18" of ice.
They launched just south of Lake City at the nice public launch, drive on. They sailed all the way up past Hok-Si-La Park, near Frontenac.
They reported that area North of Lake City and south of Hok-Si-La to be a great area for racing.
US 5391 and US 5369 checking the ice on Lake Pepin, when it is below zero!
ice is rated 8.5, a little rumbly, but two 2 mile by 2 mile areas for racing.
North end looks pretty good from Satelite.
The Big Bay here is pretty much locked in with fresh ice.Good news is when you have 300+ miles of square ice there is lots of room for the ice fishers.

Tonka iceboater Scott Brown won the 2013 International Skeeter Association Championship Regatta on Lake Kegonsa, near Madison WI. Sailing his beloved “Betsy,” Scott dominated the 13 boat Nite class winning two out of the four races sailed. The victory is even more impressive considering the field included former Nite National Champions Jim Gluek, Tom Sweitzer and Grant frautshi.
This is Scott’s first regatta win at a major championship.
Sadly, little access on the lower Croix, but no fisherman, sno machines.... 3miles long and a mile wide.
It's lonely out there.

The DN Worlds and North American Championship is next week and it would be nice to have a ranked sailor check out Lake City.
Any volunteers?

We had a great weekend on Riley Lake despite cold conditions. Three Nites, Three DN's and an Iceflyer enjoyed very high winds Saturday, with Ex Riley sailor Don Sitter driving down from Duluth on Sunday to more moderate but still enjoyable sailing and scrub racing. 5 hours on the ice in 10°F was enough!
The ice remains good despite the best effort of the fishermen.
Sherry fiberglass "whip" mast. Excellent shape. Used as back up mast. Very little use $800. 612-481-9311
