The organizing committee is meeting to assess options and an update will be posted here and on the hotline at 10:00am Central-Time.
This is some of the best video of extreme soft water sailing. Our 38 foot A-scow trying to port tack the fleet in heavy air. It's not iceboating but it will get you heart pumping. Watch these White Bear Lake dudes try to go against the grain.
Here are the Minnesota sailors that are registered for the 2011 Gold Cup World DN Championship.

First conference call for ice selection is Wednesday evening January 19. Please get updated ice reports to your regional commodore in time for the call. The THunder Bay contingent, while technically in the Canadian Region, is doing a fine communication job. Plus there is sailable ice there...

The Bay is pretty much locked in, 15 miles wide by 20 miles long of pretty much snow free 8-10" (and growing) black ice. This could be the week to come do some big lake sailing.
400 squre miles of ice to choose from. How cool would it be to have the Worlds here, great ice, unparallel scenery, great hospitality, "Thunder Bay,Superior by Nature".
I was thinking about sailing Minnetonka this afternoon (Friday). Any other interest?? I'm set up at Shorewood yacht club, and will probably stay in that bay due to high winds and bad shell ice on the rest of the lake.
